Student: "Mrs. A, I was with my family for Easter and I told them about my prom date. He is the Italian foreign exchange student and my family was asking me about him. I told them that he speaks sort of broken English and then one of my relatives asked me if he spoke his native language. I said, 'yes, he speaks Spanish'."
Me: "People from Italy speak Italian."
Student: "I know that now! I was so embarrassed and my family won't quit making fun of me."
Me: "Yea...you should be embarrassed."
