(Male Students gathered around my desk before school)
Male Student #1: "So, I was in the gym for class and I was bench pressing weight. I was in the middle of a rep and a girl walks over, lifts the bar up and sets it on the weight rest. I did not need the help and could have finished my set without her help."
Me (looking puzzled): "Ok...."
Male Student #2: "Don't you see?! He lost all of his man points! He is basically a girl now."
Male Student #3: "Yeah, I mean, you don't need girls trying to 'save' you in the weight room. It's terrible. We're men."
Male Student #1: "Seriously, I felt like I had negative man points."
Me: "Man points?"
Male Student #3: "It's points you get for being a man. If you are manly, you get points. If you aren't, you lose points."
(silence)
Me: "This is a thing?"
Male Student #1: "Well, not really, but we could make it a thing..."
(silence, all boys are in deep thought)
Male Student #1: "We will make a chart!!!! Yes, A MAN CHART!!! We will put all of our names on the chart and keep track of our man points. At the end of the year, the guy with the most points is the man."
Me: "Where will the chart be kept?"
Male Student #3: "In your room, of course!"
(silence)
Me: "Of course."
